Halifax and Peggy’s Cove

While we mostly spent our time in Halifax in the hotel, we did go out for one day to visit Becky and Carlo Weickert, Toby’s dad’s aunt and uncle.

They live near Peggy’s Cove so we stopped briefly to see the lighthouse before continuing on. It was very busy and foggy.

We also stopped briefly at the memorial for the Swiss Air 111 flight that crashed near Peggy’s Cove in the 90s

We were warmly welcomed by Becky and Carlo for a short, masked, outside visit.

Carlo has been working on this boat for a few years and just got it in the water.

Carlo took us in a smaller boat across the inlet to a small public beach so the boys could skip rocks and play in the sand.

Back at the house Carlo showed us some cool webcams in different locations in Nova Scotia, including a town that is in the Bay of Fundy and the boats sit in the mud at low tide and then the famously high tides lift them up.

Since we were already out we stopped by the Halifax harbor and walked the length of the boardwalk. It was disappointing to not be able to see some of the cool looking museums and other sights of Halifax, as well as the days trips we had planned. So we will definitely need to come back to see and experience Nova Scotia on a future trip.

  1. Becky and Carlo's house looks amazing! What a great spot and I love the house design. Nice to see some smiling faces again. (Shelley)
