Day 36 - Toledo to Chicago

After letting our kids have a lot more screen time than usual on this trip, it was really nice to see them playing

Using the blocks to spell their names

We did not get an early start as we were up partying until midnight the night before. We had a fairly long drive to Chicago and the toll roads to deal with. Luckily we will enter another time zone and gain an hour. My cousin loaned us her EZ pass transponder so we’re hoping that will simplify the tolls.

This was an exciting moment on the drive. Hydrants!

This was a new product at Trader Joe’s that I tried and LOVED! Sweet and a little bit spicy popcorn.

The moment of truth when we had to go through the tolls. The EZ pass seemed to work!

We arrived in Chicago during rush hour unfortunately. We went up the North Lake Shore drive and got a scenic view of the downtown, the lake and Navy Pier.

The main highlight of our Chicago time was to see our good friends from San Diego. I’ve been looking forward to this reunion for MONTHS!

They were staying at their relative’s house and invited us over for some Chicago deep dish pizza and s’mores

It was so great to see them all and catch up. And we saw a firefly!

We were only 9 mins away from the house that was used in Home Alone so we did a quick drive by!

Stay tuned for our epic sightseeing tour of Chicago tomorrow!
