Days 42 - Regina memory tour

I asked my parents to meet us in Regina so they could show the kids some of the important landmarks from where they grew up, Regina and Moose Jaw

We started at the cemetery  to visit the graves of my moms parents and grandmother

Next we went to Little Flower church where my mom attended church growing up and where my parents were
married. They are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year

This is my mom’s  childhood home. I spend many summers here happily eating my grandma’s garden peas, playing cards and walking down the block for candy at the drugstore or Archie comics at the library.

We did a walk down memory lane and walked to the drugstore.

My mom’s  aunt lived just down the street

This is where the library was.  It was a tiny branch so it has since been closed and a house was built in its place

Next stop - ice cream!

Next we went to the legislature and my dad put a poppy on the WWII memorial for his relative, Daniel Hartney, who died in Malta in WWII

Then we went back to Art and Janet’s for a rest, some Lego and a watching a blue Jays game on tv. You can see the maximum relaxation in the second picture

Art took me and the boys for a walk to a nearby marsh

Hmmm. Something’s different

They we headed over to my mom’s cousins Hans and Nancy’s house for a lovely dinner and visiting with some relatives on my mom’s side.

It was great to see everyone again. Tomorrow we will see more of my dad’s childhood town - Moose Jaw
