We started off the day with a nice visit with Andrew and the kids before Andrew headed off to work. Myra fed us a delicious breakfast with bagels of all different varieties. The kids especially enjoyed the chocolate chip and apple cinnamon varieties.

Getting ready for a tour of Fredricton and going for a “seat ride” in the truck
Myra led us on walk through downtown Fredricton. I enjoyed it immensely. The buildings and houses were historic and stately and it had a relaxed vibe.
Toby and I both remember learning that St John was the capital of New Brunswick but it is not. It’s Fredricton. Was our education faulty it is it our memories? Weird.
Here is Sam being a cactus (his theme for this visit was posing like a cactus at key moments to avoid having to talk (he can be shy) and “being a cactus” eventuality caught on and became a game for all the kids)
This is the provincial legislature building. For Fredricton. Which is the capital.
I think this is the raddest provincial flag. I mean a huge ship? Come on!
Pizza was on the menu for lunch

A highlight of the day was visiting the Beaverbrook art gallery, which is famous for it’s Salvador Dali paintings. It also contained some really interesting contemporary Canadian artists as well as some historical paintings
This was outside the museum. A crow made of tires

If you lie on the floor it’s supposed to look like the horse is jumping over you.

Next we did a fun round of mini golf at a pirate themed course.
Myra made us a delicious supper of fish tacos and salads. Doug had baseball and the kids went to cheer him on. Then it was special, delicious New Brunswick ice cream.
Myra demonstrating milk in a bag for my kids. 😂 Alberta used to sell milk this way too when I was a child but it’s not available anymore.
There is always lots to talk about. We have so much fun together! Before bed, Elise stuck around to listen to a chapter of Anne of Green Gables with us. (We are going to PEI next).
Tara - So nice to see family! Looks like such a fun day.
ReplyDeleteMini golf rocks! That is one sad looking crow. We should all embrace "being a cactus" once in a while.
